The Institute of Immersive Media (IIM), in partnership with Netflix, is now accepting applications for the second edition of the Women’s Virtual Production Training Programme, offering 45 places in 2026.
Virtual production is an innovative approach that connects every stage of the production lifecycle by combining traditional live-action filmmaking with advanced digital technologies. It is reshaping how films and series are planned and shot, and is creating new technical and creative roles across the industry. Yet women remain underrepresented in many of these areas.
This programme is for women working in cinematography, VFX, animation and related disciplines, and is designed to address that gap through targeted training and access to emerging opportunities. Open to participants based in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Germany, Austria, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and the Czech Republic, it blends hands-on and online learning led by experienced virtual production professionals. Applications close 7 June at 23:59 CET.
“I feel so lucky to have been part of this training. Not only to be surrounded by such talented professionals, but also to be inspired by all these amazing women who lead and are shaping the industry. It was a wonderful opportunity for me to grow both professionally and personally.”
Ariadna Ruiz MADRID
“As professional filmmakers, we rarely have opportunities to learn from others in a safe, structured environment like workshops – most of the time, we learn on the job. Workshops like this give us a safe space to ask questions and practice new skills, which we hope we can develop further in the future.”
Agnieszka Dobrołowicz WARSAW
“The IIM training in Virtual Production was a fantastic introduction to the fundamentals of this emerging mode of production. Its balanced approach to both the possibilities and challenges of VP provides a strong foundation for pursuing work deeply within the technology.”
